San Francisco Medical Cannabis Task Force

Three ASA members: Sarah Shrader, Kevin Reed, and David Goldman are on the community slate running for seats on the San Francisco Medical Cannabis Task Force. Please show your support by either attending the Board of Supervisors Rules Committee hearing on Thursday, May 6th at 10 am at City Hall or by sending in a letter of support. Further information and a template letter is supplied below.
On Thursday, May 06, 2010, we are going before the Rules Committee for the appointments hearing to the Medical Cannabis Task Force. We need everyone to show his or her support by:
1) Showing up this Thursday @ 9AM, City Hall Cafeteria, to voice your support for our Community Slate.
2) Sending in your letters of support to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. (I have included a template letter of support, and BOS email addresses below).
Over the last year we have all worked hard, dedicating our time and best efforts to see the formation of a San Francisco Medical Cannabis Advisory Task Force. We have been engaged in a long thoughtful democratic process, we have found common ground as a Community, identified important issues that demand immediate attention, and we are ready to take action. We have arrived at this moment together, in consensus, as a team. Now it is time for us to stand strong as a Community United, and turn out in support of our Community Slate. The Rules Committee Members need to see and hear from us all!
Working Group Members are meeting at 9AM in the City Hall Cafeteria. We will go up to the Rules Committee Hearing together as a Community.

To the Honorable Members of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors:
My name is (Insert name), and I represent (insert organization / MCD). Since April 2009 I have been attending meetings of the San Francisco Medical Cannabis Working Group. This group, working under the auspices of Supervisor Campos' office, represents the broad spectrum of the San Francisco medical cannabis community. The purpose of this group was to help formulate legislation to form a 13-member San Francisco Medical Cannabis Task Force. The Board passed this ordinance recently. The Task Force will advise the Board of Supervisors and the city government's various departments on how best to ensure that San Francisco's medical cannabis laws are functioning smoothly and effectively.
Through a thoughtful and democratic process, the Working Group selected a slate of 13 nominees for the task force, each one representing a different part of the medical cannabis community. I am urging you to support this slate when it comes before the Board for confirmation. These vetted activists are a dynamic and highly dedicated group of people, who will well represent not only the best interests of the medical cannabis community but also the citizens of San Francisco as well.
