Planning Commission Hearing on Deadline Extension
| By The Green Cross | Published April 1, 2008 |
Your support is considered essential once again. Over the past few years we have witnessed San Francisco mcds disappear from 42 to now only 26 medical cannabis dispensaries remaining. Even more distressing is that I have recently became aware we are possibly going to lose even more in the very near future due to DEA letters scaring landowners that now are refusing in some cases to accept rent payments and have started legal eviction proceedings. Don't be fooled, patients are growing in numbers everyday and turning to medical cannabis as more and more science is released on the positive effects of THC. As mcd access continues to shrink, more patients will be forced onto the streets or into fewer facilities. Then along comes the strong possibility of land use issues as we have already witnessed with The Green Cross on 22nd Street. We need neighborhood access all over San Francisco if this is to work for everyone. I urge you to attend the upcoming Planning Commission meeting (below) to express your concern about the future of medical cannabis access in San Francisco and your support for this amendment giving additional time for mcds to receive their permits. Please, don't sit back and wait until it's your access that's affected before you finally act!
